When You’re Your Own Ideal Client (and That’s a Good Thing)

Sometimes, your best client… is you.

In a session with Emily - a newly certified career coach with a background in marketing - we uncovered something really powerful.

She told me, “I know marketing. I’ve worked in it for years. But when it comes to marketing myself as a coach, I freeze. I don’t know how to explain what I do or why I’m valuable.”

Sound familiar?

I see this all the time - people switching into coaching, therapy, or entrepreneurship, suddenly feeling lost when it comes to talking about what they offer.

But here’s what I told Emily: This isn’t a setback. It’s a superpower.

Right now, you are walking the exact path your future clients will walk. You’re feeling what they’ll feel. You’ll know what questions to ask, what mindset shifts to guide them through, and what traps to help them avoid - because you’ve been through it yourself.

That’s priceless.

But there’s one key piece to unlock before your marketing skills can work for you: clarity.

Before we can position you, we have to define your offer.

  • Who are you helping?

  • What problem are you solving?

  • Why do you care?

  • And how is your approach different?

Without this, you’re not a brand. You’re just a title—“career coach” - floating in a sea of sameness.

Once we shape the answers to those questions, then your marketing brain kicks in. Then you get to shine. Then everything starts clicking into place.

So if you feel stuck marketing yourself? You’re not broken. You’re becoming.

And that process? It’s the most valuable thing you’ll ever offer your clients.
